Currituck Maritime Museum
Riggs Ward Design developed and designed the exhibits at Currituck Maritime Museum in Historic Corolla Park, creating an engaging and educational experience that highlights the county’s rich boat-building heritage. The design captures the breezy, nautical atmosphere of Currituck while providing practical and immersive ways for visitors to explore the region’s maritime history.
The museum features twelve historic boats complemented by interpretive graphics, hands-on displays, and interactive media that encourage visitors to engage directly with the artifacts. Guests enjoy a self-guided experience that traces the development of boat building in Currituck and its ongoing role in work, recreation, and transportation throughout the area.
This exhibit holds a mirror up to Currituck County. By combining historic vessels, interactive media, and interpretive graphics, both locals and tourists gain a deeper understanding of the county’s maritime past and present, experiencing how its history continues to shape the community today.
