Riggs Ward Design designed and developed a suite of interactive digital experiences and architectural graphics throughout North Carolina State University’s 225,000-square-foot Fitts-Woolard Hall. Anchored by a large-scale “Building Systems Kiosk,” the project gives students, faculty, and visitors access to real-time building data through an advanced touchscreen interface paired with a high-resolution video wall. These digital and environmental elements work together to create a cohesive, engaging experience that highlights the innovation at the heart of the College of Engineering.

Throughout the building, additional applications and touchscreen interactives were developed using a sophisticated Content Management System. The system communicates directly with hundreds of sensors placed throughout Fitts-Woolard Hall, retrieving live data at intervals ranging from every ten seconds to once each day. This information fuels dynamic 2D and 3D visualizations, helping users understand how the building functions and how its systems respond to daily use.

RWD also designed large-scale graphics for corridors, classroom glass, the donor wall, and exterior signage, ensuring the digital stories are supported by a strong visual identity. Staff can easily manage and update all interactive content, monitor kiosk health, and track user engagement to see which stories resonate most. The entire system is engineered for continuous 24/7 operation, creating a seamless and reliable experience for the campus community.
