Southern Poverty Law Center Civil Rights Memorial
RWD worked with the Southern Poverty Law Center to design and program A/V interactives at the Civil Rights Memorial Center. Two digital monitors at the Memorial overlook invite visitors to explore the biographies of people who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom during the civil rights movement. As the interactive is touched, visitors can select an image of a martyr to view his or her related biography, image, and engraving location on the Memorial below. The program is designed to be intuitive, and to connect the user with the stories of individuals.
A multi-user map table in the center of the space allows visitors to view information about major events that took place during the modern civil rights movement. Visitors search the interactive table by date to access supporting imagery, text, video, and animations for relevant events that occurred throughout the Southeastern United States.
