Historic Corolla Park

In preparation for the Whalehead Club’s grand reopening as an historic mansion after years of painstaking restoration, RWD was charged with creating exhibits that told the history of the site. The Trust wanted the exhibits to be thematically strong and in the style of the building. In keeping with the restoration efforts, RWD packaged all the interpretive components in ways that maintained the site’s architectural integrity.

For this design/build project, RWD designed permanent interpretive exhibits and a multimedia presentation that harmonized with the building’s architecture, playing on the nautical themes found in the area. Clean, tasteful components made for a successful and attractive interpretive space. RWD also designed exterior interpretive exhibits extending across the fifteen-acre museum campus to the Whalehead Club’s sister organization, the Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education. Later on, RWD updated the main campus signage and directional signage that greets guests at the entry.
