Ocean Hall
As part of the development of a new Ocean Hall in the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C., the Smithsonian Institution asked RWD to design galleries that captured the awe and wonder of ocean life. RWD was charged with creating a compelling conceptual design that incorporated unique objects and images, as well as immersive environments, exciting audio-visual components, imaginative sculpture, and interactive elements. The goal of the exhibit was to further visitors' understanding of the science and value of Earth's oceans. Illustrations of Riggs Ward's conceptual design were also used by the Smithsonian and Senator Fritz Hollings as part of their successful fundraising efforts in Congress for the Ocean Hall.
