Solar panels, a wind turbine and geothermal energy combine to power the Science Museum of Virginia's lighting and heating systems in a new exhibition titled New Energy Virginia. Visitors are invited to peddle on a stationary bicycle to see how much energy can be generated and compare that with the energy being generated by the tall wind turbine. Then, visitors can find out what areas of the country are well-suited for this type of energy. Other areas of the exhibit provide an opportunity to learn about solar energy by manipulating mirrored panels to get the most energy from the sun.
