Riggs Ward and the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia created this exhibition to honor the Magna Carta's profound effect on American society over nearly eight centuries. Other historic documents on display related to the Declaration of Independence, United States Constitution, Virginia Declaration of Rights, and Emancipation Proclamation. RWD designed the exhibition to reflect the substantial and prominent impact of the Magna Carta by placing it in the center of the gallery. A specially designed, state of the art case continues to protect and display the document, which is traveling around the United States in between return trips home to the United Kingdom's Lincoln Cathedral. The exhibition highlighted the relationships between the Magna Carta and the other featured documents through portions dedicated to each era of American history.
