Fort Fisher State Historic Site Visitor Center
The North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources has contracted Clark Nexsen and Riggs Ward Design to design a new Visitor Center and exhibits for the Fort Fisher State Historic Site. The new visitors center will replace the existing facility constructed in 1965. The new Visitors Center will act as teaching tool for telling the myriad and often times intertwined stories of Fort Fisher’s history. 3,300 SF will display permanent curated exhibits as well as changing exhibits for public view. RWD is committed to supplying NCDNCR and Fort Fisher staff with a new exhibit that is clear and concise, but also immersive and accurate in its depiction of the site’s development, its changing use throughout US history, and its enduring legacy. RWD is beginning the Design Development phase.
